Hyman's Block, Harrison Avenue Leadville, CO.

John Holliday roomed at 316 Harrison Avenue, above Hyman's Saloon.  This would be the top left window in the photograph.  The Hyman Block was originally split into Warfield's cigar store at 314, with a gambling room behind and the saloon at 316.  Access to the gambling room was through the saloon.  It would have had two separate doors, rather than the one central door as at present.  The white door on the right gives access to the living quarters above.

This pressed tin-plate ceiling has been cleaned, but is original to the Hyman's building.

The Monarch Saloon, 320 Harrison Avenue.  John Holliday had a job here, dealing Faro for Cy Allen

Directly across the street from Hyman's, the Silver Dollar was known as The Board of Trade in John's day. John would have frequently been seen here, on the player's side of the table playing stud poker. He developed a friendship with the owners, John Morgan and Col. Samuel Houston.  The latter gentlemen put up John's $5,000 bail after the shooting of Billy Allen on 19th August 1884.
