Georgetown and Central City

Sixth Street in Georgetown. 'Silver Queen of the Rockies remains much as it was a century ago.

Central City was on the gambling circuit when John probably visited it. The second floor gambling room in the Teller House was the place for the social elite to gather.

Today Central City is still a gambling town and whether or not John actually visited the town, his name lives on in the casino in the photograph. Part of the Teller House can be seen on the far right of the picture. The growth of new casinos lower down the valley is beginning to threaten its continued existence.
